Seedlings

I’m growing Hawaiian Baby Woodrose from seed. I have the containers on the windowsill and shelf in the kitchen. I found out a few days ago that Kelso can reach them. I came home to a big mess of dirt on the living room carpet :(. Needless to say I won’t make that mistake again. The remaining seedlings are safe.  This did, however, get me thinking and know I’m wondering if potting soil or seeds could be harmful to a dog’s health. I will have to look it up . . . and be more careful where I place things.

Christmas Dogs

•December 26, 2009 • Leave a Comment

This is Autumn, the cocker spaniel mix. She looks very sweet resting on the chair by the Christmas tree.

Heidi the standard poodle and Kelso the cocker spaniel each got a big rawhide for Christmas.

Maybe too big for Kelso?

Winter Break

Kelso and I are in southern Oregon with my parents for winter break. It’s nice to be through with finals and get away from school for a while. There are two family dogs here for Kelso to play with: Heidi, a standard poodle and Autumn, an american cocker spaniel mix.

The poodle is modeling a sweater made by my sister. My sister has made a bunch of doggy fashion and care items.

Nap Time

I took Kelso on a walk in Amazon Park. We had a good time until it started pouring rain :P. Now Kelso is curled up in his bed for a nap. The bed is pretty cool, huh? I had some pocket money a few days ago so I decided to buy it for him. He seems to really like it.

Cocker Spaniel Trim

Kelso got a haircut today! I attempted a pet-type cocker spaniel trim, but all I had to go on was a picture. I think I did pretty well considering. I used electric clippers to shape the face, head, neck, and down the back, His legs are scissored.

New Toys for Kelso

My boyfriend drove me to West Eugene today so I could get Kelso some new toys. He’d recently polished off a rawhide and his tennis ball is nowhere to be found :) So . . . we went to the thrift store first and got him a cute stuffed toy. I think it’s one of the characters from Monsters Inc. Very cute. And only like 79 cents too. Then we went to the dollar store to get him a rope toy and a new rawhide. I know the dollar store has low-quality stuff, but unfortunately this is all I can afford right now. My Standard Poodle (who is living with my parents right now) LOVES rope toys and I am hoping Kelso will to. The only cautionary note I can share (and this goes for any toy) is to make sure you throw the toy away before your dog has reduced it to little pieces. Rawhide, rope, plastic can all get stuck in a dog’s throat if he swallows little pieces.
